de Havilland Dash

Olympic Airlines

We have recently discovered that if you want to visit Leros any time between October and the end of April, the only possibility seems to be via Olympic Airlines to Athens and transfer to a local flight to Leros. See the pic of the de Havilland Dash on the left (by kind permission of Christopher Stefanidis) and click for full-size (well not really full-size!).

Most of these flights leave from Heathrow, although one very early one is from Gatwick.

The downside apart from the price (at the moment around £250 p.p. return Heathrow-Leros) is a 5-hour wait in the middle of the night at Athens airport. Not enough and the wrong time to see the sights of Athens! This is if you come on the 22.10 flight. Shops are open - but at 1.30am who feels like shopping? Coffee bars are open although the only one we found was standing-only.

When you do get on the de Havilland, it's a dear little plane. You get orange juice and a 15-second chat about life-jackets. Arriving at Leros you will be met by us. A trolley brings your bags to the gate where we meet you.
