27th June 2007

Whew it's hot! I understand from the news that this is the hottest June in history and I can believe it. It's around 38/39 degrees today so the air-conditioning doing its thing while I type this.

We spent two weeks in England in May which was great, seeing friends and family. We have no desire, however, to return there to live!

The house is more-or-less finished, the essentials anyway. We're still waiting for it to be painted on the outside, for instance. It's lucky it wasn't done when we were in England as there was a massive storm bringing red sand from the Sahara (honest!) and covered the house with this reddish stuff. Others suffered more and had to re-paint their houses.

I'm picking Jenny, my oldest-friend-in-the-world, up from Kos airport at 3am Thursday morning for a two-week holiday here. I'm taking the catamaran tomorrow afternoon, booking into a recommended hotel and will chill out for the rest of the day - taking a taxi to the airport in the wee small hours.

We've had a number of problems with the septic tank, neighbours... even a visit from the police... but hopefully all well now. Well, the neighbours won't improve but are prettily easily ignored.

We're spending quite a lot of time with friends swimming, backgammon, cards, coffee/beer and generally enjoying ourselves. Oh, and of course, the occasional visit to the Savana Bar.

We're really looking forward to various friends visiting over the summer - all the way to mid-August. Nice!
