The gasman came to call...

We have a new standalone gas fire and a guy called Marco brings up a new cylinder when needed (lots of puffing up the 63 steps). He's changed over two for us and then we were on our own.

We didn't know that the connection goes anti-clockwise so Richard and I buggered it up after trying to "loosen" the nut, having extended the spanner with a spark plug spanner and a large screwdriver down the middle... gettit?

So we phoned Marco and up he came this morning. He looked quizzically at the arrangement of spanners and screwdriver. So I explained "it's for a lever".

He looked puzzled, pointed at his body and asked "leever". "No", I said "that's 'l-i-v-e-r', this is 'l-e-v-e-r' as in Archimedes - you know Archimedes?"

He brightened "Of course I know Archimedes - he's my first cousin!"
