Day Four

Walked down to the beach early with Rosie.

First time she'd seen the seaFirst time she'd seen the sea - it was funny to see her reaction. We had a pleasant breakfast and I packed the car while Richard paid. It wasn’t as bad as we’d feared. Headed down to the port to find the ferry to Patras. Couldn’t find Alan for ages – he had our reservations for the ferry. Luckily just before panic hit (OK, I was panicking!) we met up with him and his brother who’d driven across Europe with him.

Still having a headache I was not in the best of moods. Alan and I went and got the tickets. No hassle, just presented our reservation sheets. Drove onto the ferry and went and found our cabin.

We’d bought an outside cabin so we could have Rosie with us. I met some really nice people with dogs while trying to get Rosie to have a pee. She hated the idea of peeing on the deck and found out that all the other dogs had the same problem. Two Germans, one with a dog that she’d rescued in Greece, had taken it back to Germany with her and was now coming back to Greece.

I could only see the shapeSome fairly amazing sights, for instance somebody had rigged a hammock between some railings and spent all 20 hours in it. I never did see him, only his shape. Families sleeping on the decks, some with blankets, others with blow up beds. We had a lovely meal in the a la carte menu. I think the trip was catching up by now and we were in “bugger it” mode. Alan and Ian hadn’t booked a cabin but after supper they came into ours which had two extra pull-down bunks and they slept in there.
